Sheltered is a new play written by Cate Wiley, inspired by Euripides', Trojan Women. Set in a women's shelter the play follows the story of Martha, a woman looking for her mother who is experiencing homelessness, and features an ensemble of women also moving through a shelter system, including Cassie, who's prophetic visions disrupt the oppressive world around them.

Our production is a meditation on the increasingly unattainable dream of secure housing. Through the bodies of performers seeking comfort on hostile structures we're reflecting on the ways that rest is systemically prohibited in public, and how it compresses and isolates figures in space.  While the text is in verse and borrows elements of classical Greek tragedy, the language is contemporary and bridges worlds.
